The Ministry of Education, after acknowledging the successful completion of the two previous periods of the KALLIPOS Initiative (2012–2016 and 2020–2026), has responded to our request for its continuation and has issued another Call for Proposals for a new Project (“KALLIPOS 3“) for the 2026-2030 period (https://pde.minedu.gov.gr/index.php/tpa-2026-2030/proskliseis-tpa-2026-2030/ypoprogramma-paideias-kai-thriskevmaton/997-kallipos-3-anoikta-akadimaika-ilektronika-syggrammata-3i-periodos-aa-10376-kod-p162-4-1-2ii-2026). The NTUA Special Account for Research Funds and the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link), as prospective beneficiaries of this Act, will shortly respond to the Ministry’s Call by submitting a new proposal.

It should be clarified that the request submitted concerned a new project of a scale comparable to that of the two previous periods,
and that it carried the signed support of more than 8,000 users of the open academic textbooks — including students, faculty members, researchers, and readers who value high quality academic books (https://kallipos.gr/ypografes-gia-aitima/). However, the funding proposed in the present Call falls considerably short of our expectations. We remain hopeful, nonetheless, that it will increase over time, leading to a corresponding growth in the digital content of the KALLIPOS Repository (https://repository.kallipos.gr/), something that will benefit universities and society in general.
